Vivimed in the community – Adilabad eye camp

Adilabad Eye Camp Rally

Vivimed recently organized an Eye Camp at Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh in association with the reknowned L. V. Prasad Eye Institute and the Indian Medical Association. A rally was held on this ocassion with participants from the local Urban Health Centre and students of the Nursing College. A total of 105 patients visited on the day of the camp, of which 35 cataract patients were identified for surgical assistance. Additional, 42 patients were identified with eye vision defects are being provided for with spectacles. Chief guest at the event was the District Collector, Dr Ashok.

Vivimed in the community – Devnar school for the blind, Hyderabad

In continued support of Devnar, Hyderabad’s visually challenged students, Vivimed employees from Bonthapally site participated in a special New Year Lunch program with the children. Devnar’s talented kids have come to look forward to this special treat in January and the company is committed to a long term association with them to support the excellent work of the school. Initiatives in education support has been the thrust of Vivimed’s focus in terms of contributing back to society and local community.

Vivimed presentation on colour for SCI international year of chemistry

Andy Towns, Vivimed Europe’s Research Manager, was a speaker at a recent event held at the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) headquarters in London, marking the International Year of Chemistry.  The event, jointly organised by the SCI and the Society of Dyers and Colourists, featured several speakers from industry giving talks on subjects related to ‘The Chemistry of Textiles’.  Andy’s presentation covered Vivimed’s range of products, particularly hair colorants, photochromic dyes and organic semiconductors.  He highlighted the similarities and differences between hair colorants and conventional textile dyes.  Andy discussed how photochromic dyes work and can be put to use in clothing.  Finally, he touched on the development of functional organic dyes that could in future be employed as semiconductors in circuitry for flexible substrates like garments.  Further details can be found by following this link.

After a long run of scientific opinions highlighting health concerns about a wide range of hair dyes and dye ingredients, a European Union (EU) scientific committee has highlighted five dyes it regards as essentially safe.

The facts about the safety of hair colourants
